Teacher Advisory Panel

In September 2022, Seminary Ridge Museum and Education Center announced the creation of a Teacher Advisory Panel, a committee featuring educators with past and current experience at the elementary, middle school, high school, and collegiate levels.

As a team, the Teacher Advisory Panel aids Seminary Ridge Museum and Education Center staff (SRMEC) in bringing our virtual and in-person resources to more classrooms. This collaborative endeavor furthers our mission of educating audiences of the historic legacies of Seminary Ridge by providing students with opportunities to explore innovative topics, including interdisciplinary connections between historical and STEAM subjects, moral and ethical decisions and storytelling, interpreting the difficult history of slavery and racism, analyzing material and visual culture, and investigating Civil War memory and monuments. Through these efforts, it is our goal to bridge the gap between classroom and field learning, making the history of the American Civil War era and its complexities timely and relatable for all students.

We are proud to introduce our inaugural Teacher Advisory Panel members:

Sharon Jackson Tice teaches 8th grade American History at the Downingtown Middle School in Downingtown, PA. She has served in various leadership roles including K-12 Curriculum Leader and Instructional Coach for her school district. She has advanced degrees in education and history from West Chester University and Temple University as well as a Pennsylvania K-12 Administrative Certification. In addition to her teaching duties, Sharon is an active volunteer for and member of the Gettysburg Foundation, Adams County Historical Society, and Seminary Ridge Museum and Education Center. She participates in Living History events for the Civil War and Vietnam era.

“SRMEC lessons are robust, and they meet multiple eras within our curriculum. And, importantly, they have the ability to differentiate between the needs of your students.”
